/stænd/「スタンド」。「a」 /æ/ の音を意識する。最後の「d」は破裂させず、舌を歯茎につけたまま止める感じで発音する。
立つ、耐える、有効である
To be in an upright position on one's feet; to tolerate or endure; to remain valid or in effect.
日本語の「スタンド」と同じなので「立つ」は簡単。「耐える」意味は、ガソリンスタンドで長時間立ち仕事に耐えるイメージで。
例文
Our previous offer still stands, but only for the next 48 hours.
私たちの以前の提案はまだ有効ですが、それは次の48時間だけです。
「立つ」以外に「耐える(can't stand)」「（提案などが）有効である」の意味が重要。
