動詞「explain」の名詞形。「explanation」は可算名詞(an explanation, explanations)。「explain」は explain me the situation とは言えず explain the situation to me となるが、「explanation」は give me an explanation と言える。この語法の違いに注意。

文末に来ると「nation」と聞こえなくもないが、文脈で判断。「ex-pla-na-tion」と4音節を意識する。
