主語として使われる場合、動詞が単数形(is)か複数形(are)かで意味が変わる点に注意。Statistics is my major. (統計学は私の専攻です) vs The statistics are unreliable. (その統計データは信頼できない)。
リスニングのポイント
最後の「s」を聞き逃さないこと。これがないと「statistic」(一つの統計値) という別の単語になる。
