隠喩、比喩
A figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
「メタ(meta)に運ぶ(phor)」→言葉の意味を別のものに運ぶ→比喩。
例文
"The sales report was a battlefield," is a common business metaphor.
「その営業報告書は戦場だった」というのは、よく使われるビジネスの比喩です。
文学的な表現だけでなく、ビジネスのプレゼンでも効果的に使われます。
